Zane Busbee, PLA, ASLA
Founder & Managing Principal
Zane Busbee founded LANDARC studio to bring senior design leadership and hands-on delivery to landscape architecture and urban design. Over more than fifteen years of practice across the United States and internationally — including a senior role at SWA Group and earlier work at STUDIO tla — he has led projects from pursuit and contract through design, documentation, and construction.
As principal-in-charge and lead designer, he has guided complex, high-profile projects through public process and close coordination with architects, engineers, and stakeholders — holding design intent from the first sketch to the final walk-through. His experience spans corporate campuses and workplace environments, mixed-use and residential developments, civic parks and regional trails, hospitality, healthcare, and entertainment and sports venues.
Zane’s approach emphasizes communication, coordination, and design excellence: a trusted partnership built on accountability, constructibility, and technical rigor, supported by digital modeling, visualization, and rigorous site analysis.

Joe Kensel, PLA, ASLA
Associate Principal
As an Associate Principal at LANDARC Studio, Joe brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to every phase of a project, from early design through construction administration. He has a particular passion for planting design and finds genuine satisfaction in the craft and detail of developing planting plans that strengthen a project’s character and sense of place.
Joe is especially drawn to mixed-use and multifamily urban environments, where density creates opportunities to design inclusive, engaging spaces and amenities for a wide range of people. He values the challenge of balancing design, experience, and functionality to create places that feel both purposeful and inviting.
A semester spent studying abroad in Italy, France, England, and Scotland sparked a lasting love of travel and broadened Joe’s perspective on landscape, cities, and the ways people experience public space. Those experiences continue to influence how he approaches design— with curiosity, attention to detail, and an appreciation for the character that makes each place distinct.
