The Forest Bark Dog Park Master Plan was developed to evaluate the feasibility of creating a one-of-a-kind destination dog park within a heavily wooded site along Panther Creek in Frisco, Texas. The study explored how an immersive recreational experience for both people and their dogs could be introduced while preserving the site’s mature woodland character and sensitive natural systems.
A comprehensive inventory and health assessment of more than 1,300 trees was conducted as a foundational component of the planning process. The inventory informed the strategic placement of trails, activity zones, and gathering spaces, ensuring that key program elements could be integrated without impacting trees of significance or degrading the site’s ecological value.
Guided by the site’s bluff topography and existing forest canopy, the master plan emphasizes minimal disturbance and nature-based recreation. The concept envisions a unique outdoor environment where visitors and their dogs can explore shaded trails, engage in play, and connect with the surrounding landscape. By carefully balancing recreation with conservation, the plan demonstrates how a destination dog park can celebrate the natural character of the Panther Creek corridor while creating a meaningful community amenity.
